SPECIALIST ASSESSMENT
The Menopause MOT
A space to breathe, move and reconnect with yourself — away from everything else for a few hours.

WHAT IS A MENOPAUSE MOT?
Everything your body deserves in one appointment.
So many women in perimenopause and menopause are managing symptoms alone - leaking, joint pain, pelvic heaviness, uncertainty about what exercise is safe, without anyone ever sitting down and properly assessing what's going on.
The Menopause MOT changes that. In one comprehensive appointment we look at everything - pelvic health, joint changes, movement, exercise guidance, and you leave with a clear picture and a personalised plan.
Not another Google rabbit hole. Not another forum. Just honest, expert, physiotherapy-led answers for your body.
“I’m 47 and navigating perimenopause myself. I know this stage of life can bring changes, questions and uncertainty, but it doesn’t have to mean just putting up with symptoms. My aim is to help you understand what’s happening in your body and give you practical steps to move forward with confidence.”
WHAT IS INCLUDED
What we cover in your Menopause MOT
Joint and musculoskeletal assessment
Aching joints, stiffness, unexplained pain — we'll look at what's contributing and what can be done to help you move better.
Bladder and bowel health
Leaking, urgency, frequency, difficulty emptying -hormonal changes affect all of these. We'll look at what's happening and what can help.
Prolapse assessment if relevant
If you're experiencing heaviness, bulging or a dragging sensation, we'll assess this carefully and clearly
without alarm or catastrophising.
Pelvic floor assessment
Oestrogen decline directly affects pelvic floor function. We'll assess how yours is doing and what it needs - whether that's strengthening, relaxation or both.
Exercise guidance
Not sure what's safe, what's beneficial or what to avoid? You'll leave knowing exactly what kind of movement is right for your body right now.
Personalised plan
A clear, written plan with specific recommendations and exercises tailored to everything we find in your assessment.
INVESTMENT
One appointment. A whole lot of clarity.

WHAT TO EXPECT
The appointment is thorough but relaxed. I'll talk you through everything before I do anything and ask for your consent at each stage. You can ask questions throughout - there are no silly questions in this room.
Before you book
-
No — the Menopause MOT is suitable for women in perimenopause too. If you're noticing changes in your body and you're not sure what's going on, this is a great starting point whatever stage you're at.
-
There may be, depending on your symptoms and what we're assessing. I'll always explain clearly what's involved and ask for your consent before anything happens. You are always in control of what we do and don't do in the appointment.
-
Absolutely — in fact the Menopause MOT is particularly valuable after gynaecological surgery. We can look at your pelvic floor recovery, exercise guidance and any ongoing symptoms.
-
Yes — I work with women with endometriosis and understand the physical impact it has. Please do mention it when you book so I can make sure the appointment is tailored appropriately for you.
-
Yes — you're very welcome to bring a partner, friend or family member for support. Just let me know when you book.

Item description
-
Please wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move easily. If we’re assessing your tummy, pelvis or lower back, a sports bra or vest top and shorts or leggings are ideal.
-
Appointments take place at my private home clinic in Heaton Mersey. You’ll receive full directions before your appointment, and there’s free on-street parking nearby.
-
You’ll be seen by me, Susie Rasul, an experienced Women’s Health Physiotherapist with over 25 years of clinical experience. I specialise in supporting women through pregnancy, postnatal recovery, pelvic health and menopause.
-
We’ll spend time talking through your symptoms, your goals and your medical history before carrying out a thorough assessment. I’ll explain everything as we go and we’ll create a treatment plan that’s tailored to you.
-
No. An internal pelvic floor examination is never compulsory. If it would help us understand your symptoms, I’ll explain why I recommend it, answer any questions you have, and you’ll always decide whether you’d like to go ahead. Your consent is important throughout the appointment.
-
Initial assessments are usually around 60 minutes, giving us plenty of time to understand what’s going on and discuss a plan. Follow-up appointments are shorter and focused on your progress.
-
No. You can book directly with me without needing a referral from your GP.
-
If you have any relevant scan reports, hospital letters or test results, feel free to bring them along. Otherwise, just bring yourself.
